Rest & Recovery
V2 status: Approved foundation; procedures pending. Rest is an established way to recover Exhausted Skill cards, but exact Rest types, quantities and timing have not been finalised for V2.
Why characters must Rest
Section titled “Why characters must Rest”Each time a player must recycle their empty Deck to draw, Fatigue immediately Exhausts the new Deck’s top card before the draw continues. Exhausted Skill cards are kept out of normal recycling.
If a required draw cannot be completed because the available Skill cards have run out, the character dies. See Fatigue & Recycling for the precise draw-failure rule.
Rest lets characters recover Exhausted Skill cards back into their Deck, making it possible to continue adventuring without inevitably running out of usable cards.
Choosing when to Rest is intended to create a meaningful adventure/rest cycle: pushing on brings risk; recovering replenishes the character’s endurance.
Pending Rest design
Section titled “Pending Rest design”- What types of Rest are available in V2 and when each may be taken.
- How many Exhausted Skill cards each Rest type returns.
- Exactly how recovered cards rejoin or shuffle into the Deck, particularly when there are still cards in Hand, Deck and Discard.
- Whether Rest has additional effects such as wound recovery or time/resource costs.
- When Rest is prevented or interrupted, and whether it can happen during structured encounters.
Until these are approved, do not infer that Rest automatically restores all Exhausted cards.
